GLASS BLOWING: FLAME WORKING: Flameworking is one of those rare media that truely captures 'the middle way': embodying art, science and religion. Unlike furnace work, control of the art is literally in the hands of the artisan at all times as heating and melting are done in the flame rather than in batch form in large furnaces. While there are many variations of flame working using glass with different COE values (i.e. moretti or bullseye), the 'highest form' employs the use of borosillicate glass due to the ability to obtain unparalleled depth and range of photonic manipulation. While beautiful forms may be created with pastel-pallete glass types, their effect on the human brain is only very superficial and rarely have the capacity to effect any lasting changes in the human psyche. Boro glass colors on the other hand are much more likely to deeply impact the human brain on a number of levels. Properly worked and layered, borosillate glass acts a medium to tramsmit far more powerful messages than simply color. In particular due to their magnetic alignment properties, gold and silver-based colors that are properly 'struck' within boro glass can act as records of the exact conditions under which they were made. Data such as temperature, humidity, light intensity and the emotional state of the artisan can all be recorded within boro glass. As such it is the ultimate medium to transmit artistic vision.
