English: What is rheumatic fever? Rheumatic fever is thought to be an autoimmune reaction brought on as a result of a streptococcus infection. In some cases, the heart tissue may become damaged, and after repeated streptococcus infection and rheumatic fever, somebody can develop rheumatic heart disease.
