Description
English: Press conference 2019-02-25 by opponents of the universal preschool initiative on the 2019-04-02 ballot in Kansas City, Missouri. The opponents all agree with the need for universal preschool, but they oppose using an economic development sales tax to fund it, especially when much of the funds are targeted for parochial and private schools -- and when a substantial portion of those funds will go to duplicate infrastructure that already exists in the public school system, they said. The following individuals spoke:
  • Susan Stocking, executive board chair, KCPS' District Advisory Committee.
  • Rev. Dr. Rodney Williams, President of Kansas City, Missouri, NAACP
  • T.J. Berry, Executive Director of the Clay County Economic Development Commission
  • Dr. Dan Clemens, Superintendent, North Kansas City Schools Schools
The press conference was held in Gracemor Elementary School, North Kansas City School District.
