Nederlands: Negatief. Veel Molukkers waren geen landbouwers maar bosgebruikers. Sago en bananen, de twee voornaamste soorten voedsel, komen van bomen (al is de bananenboom geen echte boom). Ook kruidnagelen en nootmuskaat kwamen oorspronkelijk uit het bos. Voor de verschillende palmen die eet- en drinkbare producten opleveren (zoals palmwijn), gold dat uiteraard ook. Bomen leverden ook producten voor de handel op. Hiervan is de kopal, de hars van Agathis dammara of Agathis alba, een goed voorbeeld. Er waren nog wel meer 'bosbijproducten' die door de bevolking van de Molukken werden verzameld, zoals rotan. (P. Boomgaard, 2001). Transport van kopal te Halmahera |
