Direct taxation is a form of imposition of tax by a government. It involves deduction of taxes at source of income.

Direct taxes reduce the spending power of consumers as a result in the reduction of disposable income of households, and from the macroeconomic standpoint, will lead to a reduction in aggregate demand of the economy.
