[edit] Establishing Wikiversity's role and context

Establishing Wikiversity's role and context: Wikiversity + Wikimedia = Wikiversity's relationship to its parent organization, Wikimedia.

I've started a couple or three learning projects that I hope will help establish and strengthen Wikiversity by defining and studying it as a community within a Metacommunity, namely Wikimedia. I hope to present a "God's-eye view" of who we are and what we're doing, while improving communications with our sister projects. This might shed some light on how Wikiversity can help its service community become more effective within the much larger Internet context. Please participate. CQ 22:28, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Technical help

Well, I should say that I dont understand this page. What is a service for Wikimedia group. I would better to see in here a group of people which would help with MediWiki, templates, editing to common users of Wikiversity. Some people coming here are not wiki skilled. They should find here a course how to study a "wiki way". People who knows might find usefull technical version of colloquium, were they can ask q about editing, html and java script. Template but also MediaWiki problems having in here. For example this is one of the big problems, that I wanna teach Spanish and not tu study how to do these thinks, thats why Spanish courses are still not available.--Juan 11:15, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

It is traditional at universities in the USA for people to do some work outside of their local university community, generally for the broader community of the area where the university is located. This is a type of "community service" and it is often just called "service" and is one of four broad areas of activity (service, research, teaching, administration). I agree that Wikiversity needs good learning resources for helping participants know how to use the wiki software and how to get things done within Wikiversity. We have "Help:" pages that are like a users manual (example), some tutorials in the "Wikiversity:" namespace and learning projects about Wikiversity and about the MediaWiki software. All of these types of "help" pages are in need of further development. --JWSchmidt 15:47, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
