Wikiversity talk:Manual of Style
From Wikiversity
[edit] More honoured in the breach?
I was led (back) to Wikiversity today after commenting on a Wikia site that categories should not have much introductory material if any, and finding that the respondent disagreed and offered this as his justification: "I use this page (from Wikiversity) as a perfect example: http://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Category:Languages_and_Language_families". I think it's a perfect example of how not to introduce a category - six clicks needed before one sees a single subcategory.
So, being rather a devotee of style matters and the MediaWiki category system, I wondered whether WV had any style standards. The fact that I am writing here shows that I found them; and I was pleased to read them. However, a look at "Recent changes" suggests that many, many contributors have never read the Manual or ignore it. Even one of the official policy pages ignores it. Does that sadden or concern many of you?

- It actually relieves me; I would be irked if this manual were currently taken as canonical. The Jade Knight (d'viser) 11:44, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
