Regarding "Three Metaphors of Learning":

Sorry, I am not fully satisfied with these 3 metaphors. Maybe they are functional in sociological settings of education, but not necessarily in educational/learning settings. Somehow you could reference to brain research and related learning results. Reflection is a central concept in learning as well as learning transfer and re-call. Christina Krause and Kiti Müller have interesting research on brain and learning, this research will be presented soon in the Cicero conference. [1]


Regarding "The Wiki Potential for Education":

Wiki is just one tool or entity to support learning. If we think about informal learning, everyday learning, observations, note taking and recognising one's learning are central (see for example Marsick & Watkins (1990). Wikis do not necessarily support that kind of learning. Therefore I see blogs more important. When we are talking about ubiq-environments and multiple context, the learning should be supported in various settings. An interesting report will be soon published about this: Sharples, M., Arnedillo Sánchez I., Milrad M., Vavoula G. Mobile Learning: Small Devices, Big Issues in Technology Enhanced Learning: Principles and Products (in press) [2]

You might also consider eportfolios and their importance as well as change. Scott Wilson foresaw the future of learning and HRD some time ago [3] . Earlier eportfolios were static, nowadays they are constructed from RSS feeds and blogs. Which may be aggregated to wikis ;-) What I am trying to say here is, that informal learning, individual learning and collaborative learning need to supported. Writing a blog is not just about publishing, it is about reflecting, helping to remember, to create continuous CV and to discuss. We need to have tools and means to have something private/personal. I am not sure if wikis are best tools for that.

BTW, these comments may be too much related to grass-root learning, not learning at society and global level. My (limited) background is in the e-learning, mobile learning, creativity and innovation research fields. I don't understand much about politics and educational reform topics ;-)
