Wikiversity:KnowCycle
From Wikiversity
Welcome to KnowCycle
The KnowCycle Project at Wikiversity aims to help people to meet to collaborate. KnowCycle is being designed to help those with common interests to (i) find one another and (ii) form real and virtual communities of interest to share knowledge for research and practice. The emphasis is on exploring the possibility of collaborating or helping each other with activities of mutual interest.
[edit] How KnowCycle works
By creating a KnowCycle page on the topic you are interested in; leaving your 'calling card'; and linking your new page to the topic page in Wikipedia, you can show you are interested in sharing knowledge with others.
1: Login or create a Wikiversity account. This takes only a few seconds.
2: Go to the Wikipedia page of a subject you are interested in. For example, the Wikipedia page Science Journalism.
3: Create a special link from Wikipedia to KnowCycle. This is easy. Go to the appropriate Wikipedia page (or create one if it does not exist yet), press on the tab, 'edit this page', and paste this code into the box that pops up. Preview and save.
4 Click on the link you have created. This takes you to the KnowCycle page if it exists, or creates a new one. Paste this code into the page, and press save.
5 Leave your calling card (your Wikiversity Username) e.g., on the KnowCycle page you have just created, near the watercooler, with one sentence describing your special interest. To say more about your activities, click on the 'discussion' tab at the top and leave details of the help that you need - or can offer. As an example, take a look at the KnowCycle page on the Venture Capital begun by User:Open Research. If you click on 'watch' at the top of your new page, you will be notified every time the page changes.
[edit] How you can use KnowCycle
Wikipedia, Wikiversity and other Wiki projects have many spaces for discussing Wiki documents. But what if Users do not want to discuss the document per se, but rather, they would like to identify people to work with in the field?
The KnowCycle project aims to help people meet to collaborate, and to develop processes and structures to enable public engagement and innovation in relation to topics identified by Wikipedia readers and authors from all walks of life.
