Thoughts about Procrastination [edit]

Glad I could help, and if I can help in any other way let me know. I am not part of the course at the university and I am missing much of the background necessary to help out with this resource. So I will bounce any ideas I have off of you. Primarily I think there is a lot of procrastination goes back to fear of failure, and a sense of being overwhelmed. You can't fail if you never start. But with most people who procrastinate there is an intense burst of activity just before any sort of deadline. In fact, anecdotally, procrastinators tend to be a fairly successful group in general. If I would relate this back pyramid on your page I think that Saftey (keeping my job, staying in school) might be the need which drives that sudden burst of activity, where as esteem drives the avoidance of work. Often substitute work seems to be used to avoid guilt. These are my general impressions as a procrastinator, enforced by some procrastination groups I have taken part in during college. I would be curious to see if these ideas have some truth to them, or if they just my imagination. Thenub314 22:17, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

I'll hopefully take another look at your chapter next week. Just came across this FYI - http://www.newyorker.com/arts/critics/books/2010/10/11/101011crbo_books_surowiecki?currentPage=all - if you can dig up the reference to the book let me know and I'll get it into the library, although it may not come in time. -- Jtneill - Talk - c 15:01, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
