My final paper

In June I attended a conference on feminist pedagogy, Challenging education: Feminist and anti-oppressive strategies in teaching and learning [9], and the text presented and I used the core of my final paper for this course in my conference presentation. The subject of my paper is relations between gender and nation and how gender equality is defined as Swedish in its essence. As discussed in several of the texts for January 19, being on the forefront when it comes to gender equality is an essential part in the construction of Swedish identity. Such relations excludes women and men from other backgrounds from a discussion on gender equality and instead defining Other women as victims and Other men as oppressors. In my paper I discussed these processes both on a theoretical level as well as applying it to the area of education for adult immigrants in Sweden, using transcriptions from my field research in Sfi classrooms.

Since my aim is to develop the paper into an article, I have decided not to publish the text in wikiversity at this moment. The participants of the course have received my text my e-mail. I am looking forward for you comments on my text and you are welcome to publish your comments, questions or other reflections here. Comments on my final text
