English advice from Colloquium page[edit]

The following exchange took place on Wikiversity:Colloquium. I've moved it here because the "corrected English" is more appropriate for a personal exchange than for the Colloquium page, which is an announcement to the entire Wikiversity community. Welcome to Wikiversity, Hcgod. I have a Chinese daughter, and another from Ethiopia, and both of them are enrolled in a local public school where the instruction is more than half in Mandarin Chinese. Perhaps we can set up some cross-cultural seminars where we can discuss topics of value. I'd be happy to correct your English as well, and please remember, your English is thousands of times better than my Chinese; when I was younger, I was able to learn new languages well, but I found that as I aged it took me far longer. It took me weeks to learn the numbers from one to ten in Chinese, I'd have it and I'd forget it immediately. --Abd 12:27, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

The Wikiversity Help Desk frequently has discussion-type questions. For example, one recent Q involved ways to solve overpopulation problems, and China's "One Child Policy" was specifically mentioned: Help_Desk#1_Billion_Hungry_people. StuRat 11:09, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
And, since you've expressed an interest in improving your English, let me correct your post (note that these corrections are for American English, not British English):
