[edit] be bold

"organization and labelling of pages" <-- be bold!
--JWSchmidt 04:52, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

I think that some of us have just been dumping files into Wikiversity without much concern for organization. --JWSchmidt 05:03, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] New schools

Could you add [[Category:Wikiversity schools]] to the new school you create, so that they can be found later on? Thanks!--Rayc 00:25, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Foreign languages

About that school, will the books be imported from wikibooks or will they be created here?--VictorGuarnieri 21:44, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hello!

I believe you may know of me. :) MyName 01:10, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi Messedrocker. Bolding wiklars is a form of electioneering for my own creation in a discussion of possible useful names for Wikiversity participants. Just as Ben Franklin hoped to help create a nation by coining and using the term American. It is a contraction of the phrase Wiki Scholars which is a bit unwieldy when used repetitively. There were other candidates available.[1] Notice I decided against Partyer short for Participant Scholar. Cheerio! Carrying on. 8) Mirwin 08:26, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Nested Category Pages

As currently structured it takes two nested category pages with ugly (to me, admittedly possibly diffent to other people) large letters separating the alphabetized groups and subjects. Is this really necessary? My first thought every time I hit one of these pages is I have fallen back into an incomplete Wikipedia index. I rather liked the aethetics of the index pages at the Wikiversity main page and under at Wikibooks. Is there some solid ergometric reason or standard practice in the related industries that says the large bold letter flags are necessary and better for a typical population of users than the old alphabetized subject list or index? Thanks! Mirwin 10:32, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the response Messedrocker, after thinking about it for a while I agree with you. After the naming conventions are drafted I can look at a single link off the main page to the previous school list index I liked; if others agree it is a nice alternate index. In the meantime getting a good generic structure in place that makes sense to newcomers and forms a framework to move the existing file into is critical. Sorry for criticising for your work needlessly. I hope you press on with the structures you are building. I know the look has been stable on Wikipedia so it must appear comfortable and useful to a large minority or more probably a large majority of web browsers. Mirwin 23:29, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Thanks for moving my comment to Wikiversity:Colloquium from its talk page. I had this problem once before - I use the Cologne Blue skin, and when I click the link for "Post comment" it automatically goes to the talk page. Not sure how to avoid this, but I'll get into the habit of checking... --

[edit] organization

Feel free to join in. What I am doing now is going through the "School:" namespace from A to Z. I "made room at the top" for more schools. Maybe in another month we will settle into a stable configuration! --JWSchmidt 07:07, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

I got through that list. I think we are in good shape for now. --JWSchmidt 08:24, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] That was Quick!

I saw the term "Wiklar" on someone's post and thought there might be others wondering what that meant. While I only put in a dictionary definition, I thought I and others might flesh that out. It's not important :) But man - within two minutes! Wow! :) -- SatyrTN 07:13, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome (better late than never)

Hello Messedrocker! Welcome to Wikiversity! If you decide that you need help, check out Wikiversity:Help desk, ask the support staff, or ask me on my talk page. Please remember to sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Below are some recommended guidelines to facilitate your involvement. [edit] Hey MessedRocker

I wanted you to know I have duplicated your idea for a learning trail with blender at [2] before I saw your stub. It is humerous that I am now frantically studying Blender because it turns out I can reuse some 3DSMax data I own with it. The Art of Illusion still has its place as it is in Java and blindingly fast as near as I can tell so far. There is a whole series of Blender books and trails at Wikibooks, some of which might/should probably be moved to Wikiversity. At a minimum students should be encourage to use the Blender trail here to collaborate on new exercises and tutorials before shifting them into polished books. Please drop me a line when you have a chance and consider participating in the CisLunarFreighter learning project or at least the intro to game process productions if you have other open source projects you contribute to. [edit] Blocking and Minor Edits

Is there anyway that you could mark your blocks as minor edits? If they were, then I could hide them on the recent changes page. Thanks. --Remi0o 21:15, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Euclid Geometry

Messedrocker, I am going to work on the geometry couse, and also try to get more people to work on it. --Freiberg 16:58, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Blocks...

Hi Messedrocker - I don't see any contributions from the recent names which you blocked. What does your block summary refer to? The user creation log? Or something else? --HappyCamper 01:16, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

Those user names had their accounts blocked at Wikipedia and the person who created them has been apparently been causing trouble for Wikimedia projects. --JWSchmidt 02:22, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ad hoc medical advice on Wikiversity

You may be interested in a debate on the wikipedia reference desks - W:Wikipedia talk:Reference desk#Linking out - in which it appears that a user is directing reference desk questioners who have asked for medical opinions, to the Wikiversity help desk, where an ad hoc answer is given. W:Wikipedia talk:Reference desk#Worst Medical Advice ever is also worth a read.

You may wish to consider whether Wikiversity should put in place policy relating to the answering of legal and medical opinion questions, as has Wikipedia. (e.g. # Do not request regulated professional advice. If you want to ask advice that "offline" would only be given by a member of a licensed and regulated profession (medical, legal, veterinary, etc.), do not ask it here. See Wikipedia:Medical disclaimer and/or Wikipedia:Legal disclaimer. Ask a doctor, dentist, veterinarian or lawyer.) --Tagishsimon 23:26, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
