"How to install SketchUp and combine with Sketchy physics" Tutorial[edit]

[Target Audience][edit]

  • People who want to install Google Sketchup.

[Starting Point][edit]

  • Google Sketchup.

[Replication Goal][edit]

  • Download Google Sketchup and install it on computer successfully.
  • Also, download SketchyPhysics and combined it with Sketchup.

[Procedure for the installation of Sketchup][edit]

  • (1) Open the Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Google chrome.
  • (2) Type "Sketchup" and search it.
  • (3) Click the website "Trimble SketchUp."
  • (4) Click the download button on the top of the right side of the first page.
  • (5) Click the "Download sketch up" button (Free) instead of "Downlad Sketchuup Pro."
  • (6) Select your computer operation and agree with the Trimble Sketchup license.
  • (7) Then, follow the install steps and the program is finally installed on your computer.

[Procedure for combining Sketchup with SketchyPhysics][edit]

  • (1) Open the Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Google chrome.
  • (2) Type "Sketchyphsics download" and search it.
  • (3) Click the website which shows up on the very top of the Internet Explorer.
  • (4) Select the program "SetupSketchyPhysics3.2" depends on your computer operation mac or windows.
  • (5) Click the File "SetupSketchyPhysics3.2" again.
  • (6) Then, starts to install the program on your computer.
  • (7) Run Sketchup as usual, and you will see some tools of sketchyphysics.

"3D warehouse" Tutorial[edit]

  • People who want to download designs from "3D warehouse."

  • Google Sketchup.

[Replication Goal][edit]

  • Download designs some else already made and add them on to Google Sketchup.

[Procedure for downloading designs from 3D warehouse][edit]

  • (1) Open the Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Google chrome.
  • (2) Type "3D warehouse" and search it.
  • (3) Look up for what you want to download.
  • (4) Click an image you would like to download.
  • (5) Click the "Download Model" button.
  • (6) Click the "Download" next to "Sketchup(.skp)".
  • (7) The program will be automatically open and you will see the model you downloaded.

"How to make a ramp" Tutorial[edit]

  • People who want to make a solid ramp on Sketchup.

[Starting Point][edit]

  • Google Sketchup.

[Replication Goal][edit]

  • Build a curved ramp on Google Sketchup.

[Procedure for making a solid ramp so that a ball smoothly skied down the hill][edit]

  • (1) Create a solid floor - It's on the sketchy solids menu - Any objects on this solid floor is not going to fall down through it.
  • (2) Click "Rectangle" on the top Manu bars and draw a rectangle any size you want.
  • (3) Using "Push/Pull" button, drag the rectangle vertically and make it as 3-dimension.
  • (4) Click "Line" tool and draw a line or curve (using "Arc" tool) on a side of the rectangle.
  • (5) Again click "Push" tool and push the part you want to get rid of horizontally.
  • (6) After that, using "select" button, select the whole rant you just made - make sure that every side and line of the object is selected.
  • (7) Click the right mouse button and click "Make Group" - now it is able to move as a solid after you hit the play button simulation. If you don't make them as a group, every part is not connected each other, so it won't move.
  • (8) Click the right mouse button again and go to "sketch physics" and click "Staticmesh" of the "shape" menu - it allows a ball slips through the surface of the ramp. If you skip this part, a ball would looks like floating in the air when you hit the play button.

"Build a simple Goldberg machine"[edit]

  • Make a curved ramp and put a ball on the top of it.
  • Arrange some domino blocks and make a heart shape.
  • Set a tiny ball on a little ramp in the middle of the heart.
  • Color them so that it looks more clear to move.

  • Download a Bowling Design from 3D Warehouse and combine it with another Goldberg machine.
  • Combined all simple goldberg machines I made and downloaded as one.
