Draft of a learning plan that I want to work towards over the coming year.

Contents

[edit] Education

  • Regularly read and interact with other Australian and overseas educational thinkers (via blogs/reader) and reflect on my own LiveandLetLearn
  • Reflect on the use of Constructionism within my current context in the Web Design course.
  • Review and reflect on SocioCultural Constructionism paper, comparing with our Web Design course.
  • Start profiles/reflections on blog of prominent educators that may help me improve as an educator (and update Wikipedia articles while at it! or maybe here at Wikiversity):
  • Investigate using Sharepoint at work for communication with colleages and students. Compare and contrast with other communication tools (Blogs, Wikis, RSS Feeds etc).
  • Continue to build sustainable and flexible resources collaboratively for the Web Design course on the Web Design Wikiversity site.

Timeframe:

[edit] Technology

  • Experiment with Django (Python web framework) and/or Ruby on Rails web development to complement PHP skills.
  • Possibly implement an experimental Flex project and build Flash development skills
  • Build on own Web Development currency through feeds and post relevant stuff on Design Websites blog.
  • Continue to expand Linux skills with Ubuntu use at home (Trial edubuntu thin-clients, perhaps in Lab)
  • Experiment with XML/XSL transforms to create automatic evidence sheets from ICA05 Training package (Done)

[edit] Physics/Maths/Modelling

When time permits and I feel like it (low priority), keep working on

[edit] German Language and culture

  • Listening to one Top Thema mit Vokabeln each week.
  • Increase formal vocab through watching DW News on Weds and Sat.
  • Understanding the German educational context (Fachhochshule, Folkes schule, Vocational education in schools etc)

[edit] Music

  • Find time to enjoy playing tin flute for 10mins each week - focusing on repetition and rhythm.
