For Open Education 2009 Vancouver

Leigh poked his head up in all this as late as 2004 - about the time Google bought Blogger - giving Leigh a voice through Blogging. He was contracting to tertiary education before that, creating instructional media through Flash and video. Since the rise of social media, Leigh has focused on its use both in formal and informal eucation settings, inventing and testing new models for education at the Otago Polytechnic in Southern New Zealand. This talk will wander through the various discoveries and challenges in the work so far with Otago Polytechnic, specifically the importance of progressive copyright policy, staff use of social media, successful and yet to be successful models for open educational development, and a little bit about the NZ context.
