My name is Chelsea Watson. I am a Junior at UNCC. However, this is actually only my second semester attending UNCC, I previous attended Appalachian State University for three semesters. I grew up in Charlotte, NC and missed it very much when I left for school at ASU. I am an elementary education major and intend on getting my masters in school administration after I have taught for a few years. I come from a big family, I am the oldest of four children and I have two sisters and one brother. All of my immediate family lives her in Charlotte, NC for now. I am pretty sure I would like to teach first grade. I have spent a lot of time in first grade classrooms this year and love being around kids that age. I have a huge interest in Spanish and have taken close to eighteen hours of it in college.

I know that there are different types of specialization in all of the countries, and that those types of specialization vary. |
I would like to know what those specific types of specialization in the other countries are? I would like to know what type of degrees teacher's are expected to get in those countries. I would also like to know how much school must be complete to get a teaching degree there. |
I learned that in Germany they focus on specific courses that they will teach and take several of those courses to be prepared to teach. I learned they only have to go to school for 3 years to get a degree. Their specialization consists of becoming a school psychologist for example and they do not have to get a masters like we do they just have to take additional classes. I learned they do not have any concentrations for elementary or primary school teachers like we do here in the United States (we become mini-experts). Both countries teach all subjects. I enjoyed this project even though I did think it was a tad bit complicated, but I thought it was very enlightening to learn about another country's elementary education specialization requirements. |
