[edit] About Me
I am a software developer and analyst for a firm in Minneapolis, Minnesota. My knowledge includes general development theory, but I deal specifically with web application development. My primary job is to direct offshore resources in large scale project development. I previously worked as a consultant for American Public Media and a variety of other companies needing expertise in the realm of developing quality closed source software using freely available tools.
Personally, I enjoy cooking, playing tennis, and playing the piano. My girlfriend lives in Connecticut, so I have enough time to create courses on Wikiversity.
[edit] Skills
The three languages which I know equally well are PHP, Ruby, and Java. I am well versed in SQL, since we use it in web development as a "main ingredient" and so naturally I am also fluent in (X)HTML/CSS and XML. I also have professional experience with C, C++, C#, Perl, and Python. I am also a competent system administrator. Most importantly, I am passionate about application architecture; the delicate blend of SQL, a programming language (like PHP or Ruby), HTML, and the server it stands on.
[edit] Goals
I want to create courses, especially in PHP, Ruby, SQL, and Linux so that the amateur user may elevate their skillset to a level at which they can begin doing technical work for money. My professional interest is present as well, this is not simply a personal desire--as an avid recruiter of contractors, I shudder to recall the many rank amateurs who just didn't get it.
