Why merge? Topic pages and main namespace pages are two distinct things. --JWSchmidt 15:45, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- The portal, which contains no content whatsoever, seems a little unnecessary right now. If different content were placed here and at the portal, there might be a point, but right now having multiple pages with the same name which are not connected will only hinder collaboration of Wikiversity participants. - Merging (Squashing) an Institute, a Portal, and a Subject in the early stages of development seems to the Founder of the Institute a little counterproductive. These Pages were created for collaborative development. Were the Proposer of the Mergers to Participate in the Making of Appropriate Connections rather than Proposing Mergers, he, by his own efforts, would eliminate his rationale for the Mergers.

Oppose -- In the understanding of This Participant, Wikiversity Policy makes it incumbent upon those proposing Mergers not to apply the "Merge" Template without first providing "a detailed set of reasons for the merge". This Participant must most humbly and sincerely request that the Placer of the "Merge" Templates remove the many "Delete" Templates and "Merge" Templates which he has placed on AGS Pages until or unless he complies with Wikiversity Policy and lays BILLS OF PARTICULARS against any Pages which offend him so much that he finds it necessary to again propose that they be Deleted or Merged.
