[edit] Proposed subject
I am a prospective convert to Masorti Judaism. Maybe we should develop a course to teach Jewish converts the details of the faith? Dev920 13:50, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
- A basic Judaism course would certainly be the most appropriate place to start. What kind of stuff would need to be discussed, though? By the way, I am probably going to convert to Conservative Judaism myself. :D Karimarie 23:28, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
I'm not going to convert but would be interested. Is it only for jews and potential converts? --Mateo 16:45, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
- No. While Orthodox Jews would say that Jewish learning should be restricted to Jews and Noachides, that conflicts with Wiki philosophy that information, if it exists, should be accessible. Since Wikiversity is part of the Wikimedia Foundation, we are bound to following Wiki philosophy if there is a conflict between the two. We are founded on the principles of the Wiki, not on the principles of Jewish law. Karimarie 17:07, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Torah study
I think it would be a good idea to have a running class where all active participants discuss the week's parshah in a group discussion format.
Implementing it would be interesting, though.
Ideas? Karimarie 15:54, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
I have attempted to add some categories for further expansion of this page. I will do some cleaning up and additions later. Hope we get something going here! :) Erin November 25th, 2007
