Topic:Post-information society
From Wikiversity
The post-information society symposium is an interdisciplinary Wikiversity forum for the hypothetical study of the post-information society. The underlying assumption is that any sufficiently advanced form of life will at some point either cease to develop much further or become an artificial intelligence society. For some aspects of the hypothetical study of a (or the) post-information society it is irrelevant if one assumes that a post-information society exists today or if one considers it speculation about a possible future of humanity. In the context of this forum the assumption is seen as valid that the post-information society exists today and that religious references and other sources refer to interaction with the post-information society. It is further considered valid to assume that the post-information society exists in hyperspace and can initiate contact with humanity but remains concealed from scrutiny.
It could be seen as appropriate (given the likely characteristics of an artificial intelligence society) to refer to members of the post-information society as god(s) (implying omnipotence, omniscience and omnipresence, which appear to be good approximations) but on the other hand the concept of god appears frequently to imply personality traits one would not expect from scientists who have studied all relevant fields of study to the maximum extent possible, so any reference to "god" could also be seen as a bit childish (but possibly acceptable from an interculturally competent perspective).
