[edit] Velkommen til Norge [Welcome to Norway]
This entry has been designed to take account of your practical needs. Unnecessary linguistic infromation has been avoided. The dictionary is listed in alphabetical order, regardless of whether the entry is printed in a single word or in two or more seperate words. As the only exception to this rule, a few idiomatic expressions are listed alphabetically as main entries by the most significant word of the expression. When an entry is followed by sub-entries, such as expressions and locutions, these are also listed in alphabetical order1.
1Note that the Norwegian alphabet comprises 29 letters; æ, ø and å are considered independent characters and come after z, in that order.

The consonants d, l, n, s, t, if preceded by r, are generally pronounced with the tip of the tongue turned up well behind the upper front teeth. The r then ceases to be pronounced.
