Topic:Middle Eastern studies
From Wikiversity
A region whose precise boundaries are unclear, the Middle East encompasses what Eurocentric scholars once understood to be the Near East as well as all or parts of the Maghreb, Saharan Africa, the Caucuses, Central Asia and Southwest Asia. While the consensus apparent in journalistic usage is that it includes Egypt, the Levant, Arabia, and the Persian Gulf states, does it extend as far as Rumelia (European Turkey?), Eritrea, Senegal, Turkmenistan, or Indian Kashmir? The answer is uncertain.
