Welcome to the Department of Medical Physics!

Medical Physics is an interdisciplinary science that applies the theories and methods of physics, to questions of medicine or medical research.

The study of Medical Physics, being an interdisciplinary subject, requires an understanding from a number of areas - namely biology, chemistry, mathematics, and physics. You'll notice that medicine is NOT listed as a area of understanding. This is because Medical Physics is in a sense a tool used in medicine, and would therefore be circular logic to say that to know Medical Physics, one must understand medicine.

Also, being an interdisciplinary subject, the topics which can be called Medical Physics are vast, and broadly defined. In that respect, may courses that are listed in the Department of Medical Physics belong to another subject area. Specific topics are often very specialized and draw upon a number of other courses, and it is therefore important to watch class prerequisites.
