Liturgy is a term used to describe the content, forms and modes of worship. "Liturgy" from the Greek 'leitourgia,' meaning, "work of the people." was originally a designation for civil service which all citizens were to render to the state for the betterment of the whole. The term gradually was adopted by Christians liturgists to mean "the work of the people" which is rendered to God, that is, prayer, praise, and adoration.
