DIY knife-making[edit source]

If one wishes to cast an even better (small) knife, the Emerson LaGriffe White Water Rafting can be used as a basis, and the blade may be slightly extended for better slicing (LaGriffe is originally meant for cutting climbing rope). Probably the best blade to use would be tilde-shaped (~) meaning the blade goes up and down like with a w:kilij or see the image; 4th sword from the left -->

The curving is for more sharpness and reduced size

Perhaps some guidance may be obtained from the creator of the LaGriffe, Fredric Perrin (see http://www.donrearic.com/perrin.html)

Note that if made DIY, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tungsten_carbide can be added to the metal in order to make it stronger
