Introduction to Quenya[edit source]

Consider having multiple Quenya courses (part of the Elvish Stream, perhaps), and turning this into "Introduction to Quenya" or "Basic Quenya" or "Beginning Quenya". The Jade Knight 05:01, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It wasn't my original idea because Quenya cannot be understood or learned as a normal language. Quenya is a language we have no (or very few) extensive grammar description, but only notes and a corpus. The most of Quenya Grammar is infered, supposed. In my opinion is not possible to understood Quenya if a learner doesn't have any idea of why we use, for exemple, -mmë as 1st pl. exclusive even if there's a text that explicitly say that it is 1st dual inclusive. Or if he doesn't know anything about Qenya. Quenya is a languiage that has continuosly evolved since 1914/1915 to Tolkien's death (1973).
However I understood that some people may prefer only know the basic grammar in order to be able to write simple sentence in that language. For this reason every lesson will be divided in two parts "Basic" and "Advanced", so that a learner may be able to choose if he wants to procede to the next topic, or knowing only the basic.
Or may be dividing this in two parts Quenya I and Quenya II. That is the same of making an "Introduction to Quenya"....
Or, at least, these are my ideas. However I can change it ;-)
Other courses in the future will be about the External Evolution of Quenya (from the Qenya of the Qenyaqetsa) and maybe, always about quenya, lectures on the Corpus. --Elistir 15:21, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't entirely understand what your point is in your 2nd paragraph. How does that relate to my suggestion?
What is the difference between "basic" and "advanced" options? The Jade Knight 18:55, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is also a Wikijunior article on Quenya: b:Wikijunior Languages/Quenya. Also, I've added a few links around to other things on Wikibooks. The Jade Knight 18:55, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
