Case study suggestion[edit source]

Hey, Check out this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2IJT6PwQb4 Ted Bundy is an infamous killer worth notingU3177123 (discusscontribs) 21:54, 18 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Last minute editing[edit source]

Hey, hopefully you are on track to finish by tomorrow! Just did some minor editing for you with your bullet points. Also headings should be in lower case so possibly 'Organised versus unorganised' rather than 'Organised versus Unorganised'. In this paragraph I notice you say disorganised rather than unorganised so maybe check for continuity there. Really interesting information otherwise. Good luck! Empowering comment[edit source]

Hi there!!! I saw the topic and it captured my attention!!!! It is a brunch of psychology that I love so much (forensics). I've always wondered what killers think and what their motivations are to do such things. I saw that you don't have much information so I hope that you are working in a word document (as I did) and then copy and paste. So I wish you the best luck on this assignment!!!! --U3074414 (discusscontribs) 10:09, 26 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Comments[edit source]

Hi there.

Unfortunatly you dont have anything up yet. I'm excited for when you do have stuff. I wish I thought of doing this topic. Reading about serial killers is one of my hobbies. I'm going to flag you page so when you do make edits I can see. Hopefully I can be of help later!

Hi there again!

I can see your starting to put things up! Hopefully theres more when I check tomorrow! I just noticed, that while your refercing is what is normally used on wikipedia, it is not APA. I think it would be wisest to stick to complete APA or risk loosing marks. Can't wait to check back tomorrow and see a finished product hopefully!

Helpful article?[edit source]

Hi, Great idea for a topic! I find forensic psychology really interesting and am looking forward to seeing what you write about motivation of serial killers. I found this article which you may find useful for your research, it gives a good overview of different types of serial killers and their various motives. Journal article - Serial killers: I. Subtypes, patterns, and motives

Hey[edit source]

really looking forward to seeing your completed chapter a topic , you may have planned to do this already but I think it would be interesting to do case studies of different serial killers throughout your page that can help to demonstrate the different motivations that you cover, good luck :) K.kauhanen (discusscontribs) 12:06, 24 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This sounds like a pretty interesting topic, i was just wondering if you have thought about incorporating the relationship between sensation seeking and serial killer. Couple of articles have argued that sensation seeking is a common trait find in some serial killers. www.fbi.gov/stats-services/publications/serial-murder. Also i will highly suggest if you can have a look at Morton, R's book " Serial Murder: Multi-Disciplnary perspectives for investigators" look at page 17-19. He gives a clear understanding of what motivates a serial killer and types of serial murder. Good luck :)

Multimedia feedback

The accompanying multimedia presentation has been marked according to the marking criteria. Marks are available via the unit's Moodle site. Written feedback is provided below, plus there is a general feedback page. Responses to this feedback can be made by starting a new section below. If you would like further clarification about the marking or feedback, contact the unit convener. If you wish to dispute the marks, see the suggested marking dispute process.

Overall[edit source]

  1. Overall, a fascinating topic and a well thought out presentation, well done.

Structure and content[edit source]

  1. This presentation had great inclusion of theory. It could be improved by a greater focus on research (would have been fascinating to see some research on serial killers!), as well as an overview and conclusion slide to aid watchers.

Communication[edit source]

  1. Jing was used effectively to create a visually dynamic presentation. Some of the slides could have used slightly more information but were generally filled well. For improvement, perhaps a slightly slower speaking pace.

Production quality[edit source]

  1. The visual aspects of the presentation were good, and the sound was adequate. Well done!

Chapter review and feedback

This chapter has been reviewed according to the marking criteria. Written feedback is provided below, plus there is a general feedback page. Please also check the chapter's page history to check for editing changes made whilst reviewing through the chapter. Responses to this feedback can be made by starting a new section below and/or contacting the reviewer. Chapter marks will be available later via Moodle, along with social contribution marks and feedback. Keep an eye on Announcements.

Overall[edit source]

  1. Overall, this was a promising chapter, but is significantly flawed by poor written expression. For more feedback, see my copyedits and comments below.

Theory[edit source]

  1. Theory was the strongest aspect of the chapter.
  2. The use of Maslow's hierarchy to explain the motivation for serial killing is rather speculative and doesn't appear to be drawn any notable source(s).
  3. Eysenck's Extraversion and Neuroticism are used as key personality factors, but then psychotocism and narcissism are used to explain serial killing motivation. This appears to lack conceptual clarity.
  4. The main types of serial killer motivations with examples were helpful.

Research[edit source]

  1. More indepth use of relevant research would improve the chapter.
  2. Some statements were unreferenced - see the [factual?] tags.

Written expression[edit source]

  1. Written expression was problematic as there were significant issues with sentence structure and grammar.
    1. Avoid one sentence paragraphs. A paragraph should typically consist of three to five sentences.
    2. Some sentences were overly long.
  2. Learning features
    1. Adding interwiki links would make the text more interactive.
  3. Spelling, grammar and proofreading
    1. Check use of ownership apostrophes e.g., killers vs. killer's
    2. The grammar for some sentences could be improved - see the [grammar?] tags
  4. APA style
    1. Did you directly consult Eynsenck (1977)? If not, don't cite it.
    2. Many sentences are not grammatically correct. Several could be fixed by replacing a comma with a full-stop. See the [grammar?] tags.
