a remark[edit source]

The example image shows a color scale in the uncropped original. I propose to perform the color adjustment on the uncropped version to have the color scale as an objective measure. You'd need to move point 6. to the top. Suggesting auto adjustment seems a bit inappropriate if you are striving for accuracy. --Dschwen 17:19, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That's a general model and perhaps a different image should be substituted. Most images don't come with color scales. Bear in mind that scales such as that one can be deceptive: what they document is the image as it looked at the time the slide film copy was taken after half a century or more of decay, not the way the original appeared when it was new. Regarding auto adjustment, what I suggest is to preview in auto adjustment, then revert the auto levels and proceed with regular work. There are reasons to do this. It's something I blogged about earlier this year.[1] If you can come up with a clearer way to express that in this module, I'm open to ideas. Durova 18:16, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oooh, you are right, from a quick look at the thumb I had the impression the color scales were on the original document. Then there is not much you can do about it, except for guessing what the original image might have looked like :-(. --Dschwen 19:01, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
