Lesson Prerequisites
Wikihigh standard style is one of several ways to meet the building code at Wikiversium. Before taking this lesson, you should already know how to create a lesson using Wikihigh standard style. Otherwise, you should use this learning material from the course as offered by Wikihigh, WKCD 103 Wikihigh Content Development, and learn how to create a lesson page looking like this one, which is in Wikihigh standard style.
Learning Material
Procedure 1. Building the Front Page
Do the following steps to create the front page for a building at Wikiversium:
- Run the software Wikiversal.
- Select the main menu command, Tools » Wiki Assistant.
- Select the Wiki Assistant menu command, File » New » Add New Presentation.
- Enter the building name, e.g. Lincoln Building, and the number of topics.
- Leave the number of topics as 2 and press OK.
- To be sure, double-click on the building name in tree view to open it again and see that the resource config file has been created for the new building. The first page you see is the Resource Config Page 2.
- Select NO for introduction page.
- Select NO for topic list.
- In folder path, change the input string, /wiki/sandbox/, to become, /wiki/Wikiversity/.
- In mobile path, clear the input value and make it blank.
- The other values should be left the same as before.
- Make sure that Mobile use only is still NO.
- Press the Next button and go to the Resource Config Page 3.
- Name the first topic as, Building Entrance.
- Name the second topic as, Building Directory.
- Press the Next button and go to back to the Resource Config Page 1, which is marked as Suggested Code.
- Click on the Front Page node under the building name in tree view.
- Press the Generate button.
- Wait for HTTP response.
- Copy the generated code over and pass any captcha challenge on the whiteboard. Show me how
- If the whiteboard is still in Edit mode, press the Save Page button again.
- Right click on a blank spot in the whiteboard the click on Properties.
- Copy the URL on the Properties dialog box and use it as the basic URL for your building.
- Open your favorite browser and go to your building's basic URL.
- Click on the green Home icon.
- Copy the web address ending with #Presentation and use it as your building's Front Page URL. The front-page URL is the same as the basic URL but with the suffix #Presentation. This is part of the Wikihigh standard style.
Procedure 2. Creating the Building Entrance
- Run the Wikiversal application.
- Bring up the Wiki Assistant.
- Open the resource config file for your building.
- Press the Back button to go back to the resource config page 1, which is labelled as Suggested Code.
- Click on the topic, Building Entrance, which was created by the prior procedure earlier.
- Select the Wiki Assistant menu command, Insert » Wikihigh Standard Style » Wikiversium Menu Row.
- Press the Generate button. Wait for HTTP response. Copy the generated code over and pass any captcha challenge.
- Right click on a blank spot in the whiteboard the click on Properties.
- Copy the URL on the Properties dialog box and use it as the basic URL for your building entrance.
- Append the suffix #Presentation to the basic URL and use it as the general URL for your building entrance.
- Add the general URL for your building entrance to this page, which is the list of all buildings at Wikiversium.
Procedure 3. Creating the Building Directory
Repeat the above steps to create the next room for your building. The next room should be your Building Directory.
Procedure 4. Add Content for Each Room
Go to each room and edit the content as you see fit.
