[edit] Introduction

Wikiresources is a Wikiversity page created with the objective to explore, evaluate and record knowledge about diverse resources applying to elearning.

This assignment is part of one of the requirements and learning outcomes of the MSc. in Applied eLearning, in the Dublin Institute of Technology, Dublin, Ireland . In the Instructional Design and eAuthoring module, the students will be expected to work as a group to design and develop an activity/elearning resource that can be used as a tool for learning.

Our group choose the wiki software Wikiversity because it seems to be the most appropriate way to record and disseminate the knowledge acquired during this Master Degree course.

The intention of this wiki page is to be a structure to students place their knowledge, ideas and conclusions about the different resources available to elearning. Therefore this is not a conclusive work as it will be continuously updated by users. From this structure the students can include or change concepts, images, videos or any other learning object according their studies and reflections. Consequently it could be used as a resource for learning for future students of the course./Introduction

[edit] Wiki Resource Analysis

We consider that the initial step on our project should be based in a clear discussion of the tool to be used to develop our resource. Therefore, it is convenient to start analysing the pros and cons of our tool. Consequently, we have decided to attempt a PMI (Plus, Minus and Interesting) and a SWOT (Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis of the wiki. An initial PMI analysis will provide us with valuable information regarding Wikis as a tool in our group elearning experience where we want to discuss and highlight why a wiki should be used as an elearning resource.

After the PMI analysis is done, it is very important to condense all the information into a SWOT analysis(Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats), thus we are able to connect all the valuable information that help us to decide if the wiki is the optimal resource for our project. Thus, all our discussion is based on a fundamental question: /Why this tool?

[edit] Instructional Design and eAuthoring Module

This module has the aim to gain competence in planning, design and development of elearning activities or resources. This module aims to allow students to apply, in a practical manner, relevant learning and instructional design theories to elearning.

Students will develop an understanding of the design, development, application and evaluation issues relating to elearning. They will gain practical skills in web and elearning resource development and usage of other tools for elearning development such as in multimedia platforms (Flash), podcasting, video editing and experience in rapid elearning development tools. /Instructional Design and eAuthoring

[edit] ePortfolio

To support our learning from ePortfolio we think that a website can be useful. The contents of this page should be expand in order to include why are we analysing this course, and also to explain why a website is considered appropriate. Work in progress!!

[edit] Communication Tools

This section will provide some discussion regarding communication tools and how they can be used for individuals and groups to communicate. Taking into consideration that there are many tools available we would like to limit our face to face meeting to a minimun and try to get more technology involve on our work. Therefore, we are going to present some tools that our group is using in our daily communication in order to coordinate our elearning project. The tools that we are considering are:

  1. google docs,
  2. wiggio,
  3. twitter,
  4. webnote
  5. and email.
