This page is on the ancient language spoken by the w:Maya civilisation of the Yucutan Peninsula in Mexico and the modern nations of w:Guatemala, w:Beliz, w:El Salvador and w:Honduras, the language called w:Mayan was spoken around 700-1500 at the time of the Mayan civilization. Current Mayan language family consists of 21 recognised languages that have evolved over 2,000 years. The ancient w:Maya hieroglyphs that they were written in are not available on Wikiversity, so the words go as they are pronounced.
