Addis CS4HS project aims to introduce Computer Science to high school students in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The program will be conducted in 4 high schools in Addis Ababa for the first phase. 20 12th grade students from each school will attend the program for 6 months. Therefore by the end of the 6th month 80 students will be certified to an Introduction to Computer Science. They will be introduced to Internet, web design, Photoshop, database and java basics.

To do this we have volunteers, 3 lecturers and 8 third year students (who already have a clear knowledge of the above mentioned courses) from Computer Science Department, Addis Ababa University. The 3 lecturers will organize and manage the whole program including giving the 8 volunteer students a week training on basic pedagogy, preparing the training manuals, contacting schools to let us train the students and etc. Then 2 trainers will be sent to each school to teach 10 students each for 3 days a week (1 hour per day).

Since most of the high schools have a computer laboratory, the training will be conducted there. In addition to the class workouts, at the end of each month there will be a group project and an event (such as a tour to a technology company or school in the city).
