Food Science and Technology is a discipline in Applied sciences that is concerned with the postharvest handling of food, food processing and storage so that such food reaches the final consumer in a wholesome, nutritious, safe and desirable form. As such, it has, among others, the following sections: Food Biochemistry, Food Biotechnology, Food Microbiology, Food Engineering, Food Toxicology, Postharvest Handling of foods, Food Processing and Preservation, Food Packaging Technology, Sensory Science, and subsections in meat science, grain science, dairy science and fruits and vegetable science.
