ECG is a test that became very essential when working up a patient with a possible cardiac problem. It is a key test and one of the first clues to diagnose Ischemic Heart Disease. D3m 19:54, 7 May 2009 (UTC) The principle of this investigation is the graphical recording of the basic electrical signalling activity of the heart, which influences the rate and strength of the contraction of the heart. Thus by viewing the graph, the physician can ascertain the basic working mileu of the patient's heart and hence strengthen or discard the other clinical findings.D3m 19:48, 7 May 2009 (UTC) The procedure to record an electrocardiogram(ecg) is very simple to perform. The portable suitcase sized device helps record ecg at the patient's bedside,in his reclining position.Three electrical leads are attached to three limbs of the patient and another lead in successively applied at various position on the chest and the ecg recorded instantaneously.D3m 19:54, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
