Business inventories in April 2008 rose 0.5% from March and 5.4% from April 2007, to $1,474.8 billion. Sales increased 1.4% from the prior month and 6.8% from the prior year, to $1,177.7 billion.
Retail sails in May 2008 rose 1.0% from April and 2.5% from May 2007. Excluding autos, retail sales in May 2008 rose 1.2% from the prior month and 4.9% from the prior year.
