Identifying Characteristics
Habit:Herbaceous forb
Flowers:Five white petals form a sterile flower at the end of a stem. The fertile, self-pollinating flowers never open and are hidden beneath the leaves.
Foliage:Heart-shaped, scalloped margin. Similar to viola. The leaves grow at the end of a long petiole.
Stem:Flowers and foliage are on separate stems.
