Brain Organ Models

Dr. Edelman's book Nerual Darwinism: The Theory of Neural Group Selection while it arguably might only properly apply to the cerebral cortex, created an opportunity for larger nerual models to be built, based on the Neural Groups found in different organs of the brain. From these larger neural networks, Dr. Edelman and his contemporarise were able to develop the concept of Brain Based Devices which modeled the operation of organs of the brain, in a simplistic fashion limited mostly by the size of the simulation's host computer cluster.

The following Organs have been modeled in Brain Based Devices. How useful that modeling might be is based partially on the state of knowledge about the operation of the organ at the time of the model being built. As such we need to expect that as our knowledge increases the sophistication of the BBD models might also increase skewing our assumptions about how the organs work.
