The term Before Present is used by archaeologists as a bench mark. Before Present is 1950 AD, and is set at this date as after 1950 it is not possible to take an un-contaminated C14 Radio Carbon Date due to the amount of Atomic Bomb Tests carried out.[Citation needed]
